This page describes a part of the Mobile Dashboard's process for configuring database queries. For an introduction to the database query configuration process, see Section 6.1, “Introduction To Database Query Configuration”. For a general introduction to the online help manual, see Section 1.1, “Mobile Dashboard Online Help Manual Overview”.
If you are entering a new query, click on to type in an SQL query. If you are editing an existing query, click on to change the existing SQL query.
The SQL Query is displayed in the upper box. The query parameters (if any) are displayed in the Query Parameters table. You can select a parameter and click on which brings up an Edit Query Parameter pop-up window that allows you to enter a Parameter Name and select the Parameter Format, either a Built-in data format (e.g., text, integer, date, etc.) or a Custom data format. If you select a custom data format, then select from among the available Data Format Files displayed in the left table. You can then select one of the Data Formats (from the selected Data Format File) which are displayed in the right table.
At the bottom of the Edit Query Parameter pop-up window, select whether the value for this query parameter will be provided by the mobile user on his device, or obtained from the profile property for that user. You can also specify whether you want to include the query parameter in the results screen that is presented to the mobile user (it will be shown at the top of the results screen.
When you have completed the Edit Query Parameter pop-up window, click on . Edit each query parameter that requires adjustment.
At the bottom of the Configure Database Query activity page, you can check the top box if you want the mobile user to retain only one set of results (the most recent) when the query is invoked multiple times. This is useful if the mobile end users don't like to select on the results screen (of a query invocation). Invoking the query multiple times would keep all the results screens on the mobile device if the this box is unchecked.
You can check the bottom box if you want the user to always be presented with the query screen, even when all the inputs to the query have already been set. Normally, if all query inputs are present (because they were supplied by the data on the screen from which the query was invokec), the query screen is not shown to the user.
Finally, in order to customize how the query inputs are displayed to the user, you must first complete the two steps folloing this one, to configure the query results and the output dimensions, as needed, because all customizations to the display rules for the query inputs and outputs are erased by most changes to those inputs or outputs. So, complete the two steps following this one (except for customizing the input and output forms), then return to this step and click to customize how the query inputs are displayed to the user.
Note that you will not be able to configure the input form for query inputs that are obtained from profile properties.
When you are completely done editing the query results, click on .
